Somethings are never what they appear.
Feel Before You Leap?

Jimmy studied the terrain; sighting down his pencil helped him focus. Hoping to see something, a landmark, anything that would jog his memory of the map, he had lost in the brush. Before them lay a split path.

“How about the left fork,” Amanda said. “Looks like the easiest way down to me.”

Jimmy nodded, and then winced. He took a nasty spill earlier; sprawled unconscious for several minutes, lost the hiking map and most of their gear. He and Amanda came to the mountains for a romantic adventure. So far, he had only romanced a stone that left a kiss of pain atop his head instead of lipstick.

“I’m sure you’re right,” he said, careful to keep from nodding again.

Amanda smiled and looked sympathetic as she tested the lump. It continued to swell. “You sure you’re okay?”

“Owww… stop that.”

“Sorry. I thought it had moved.”

“What do you mean, it moved?”

“Probably the poor lighting, kinda creepy though,” she said, “I guess we should get going.”

His head hurt something fierce. All he wanted to do was lay it upon his girlfriend’s warm bosom. He thought about how good it would feel to wake up snuggling her. He couldn’t wait to find shelter for the night. Nobody could ease his pain like Amanda. He wished the nausea would stop too.

Jimmy stumbled, the pain exploded, blinding him, screaming uncontrollably, he clutched for Amanda.

She screamed and pulled away, his hands clamped upon her breasts.

“What are you doing… let go… Jimmy!”

Jimmy did not hear her. He did not feel the fall. He sensed the rush of wind and his fists filled with rubbery softness.

Amanda clutched her naked chest. Leaning over the cliff watching until Jimmy disappeared, she said, “Sorry Jimmy…" Good thing I wear falsies.
