This is a large fish in a small pond story. |
BLEU THE FISH Bleu a big fish lived in a small pond and came from a grand family. Everyone was big. Every day the small fish followed him around. They chased and copied with wonder. “This place is blah and just so-so. I can’t take it anymore,” complained Bleu. His friends asked, "Where will you go?” “Why do you want to leave?" “We want you to stay.” “I need more than this simple pond,” answered Bleu. He snuck up to an opening, "I wonder what’s out there? Ahh…this leads to a river. I’ve been waiting for a chance to escape. The current is swift…hmm. I’m not afraid after all I’m a big fish!” He swam into the opening and, “Whoopee. How fast can I swim? Let me see…wee… I feel free. This place is enormous.” Looking down he said, “Wow, where did the floor go? And all these fish where did they come from? How did they get so large? I guess I’m not the biggest fish anymore, gulp.” He felt a shadow and turned to see a huge fish coming toward him. It opened its mouth and Bleu saw some teeth. “It’s going to eat me! OH NO!” Shooting into a cave he hid until the monster passed by. “Whew,” he said as he let out a shudder. “I really need my family right now.” Trembling he thought, I’m all alone here. “Who are you,” asked a voice from behind. He turned around to see a fish exactly like him. “My name is Bleu.” “Nice to meet you my name is Goldeye. Are you Okay?” “I just missed being eaten by that gigantic fish.” “You went into the deep end, that’s why. Are you new here?” “Yeah, I came from a small pond.” “Come on, I’ll show you around.” Bleu follow Goldeye into a shallow section. Bleu’s eyes danced as he watched the fish swim by. “Incredible! I have never seen so many different fish before. This is awesome. My family would be impressed.” “You have a family? I wish I had a family. I am the only one left.” “I come from an important family. My father is king. I was BIG there.” Feeling sick he thought do my friends miss me? Looking at Goldeye he said, “I’m going home now. Do you want to come with me?” “ If I went with you could I become part of your family?” “Why yes. They look exactly like you.” They turned to face the fast current moving inch by inch. “Hey Bleu, you want me to be in front for a while. Give you a rest?” “Yeah, thanks a lot. We’ve got a long way to go.” The motion hitting their faces they took turns with the lead. Finally, they arrived home battered, tired and ready to drop. Waiting were his family and friends happy to have him back. “Hey, everyone, meet my new friend, Goldeye.” “Nice to meet you Goldeye.” “We’re glad to have you.” “Welcome to our pond.” Looking at them Bleu thought, it is a big world outside. This pond IS small, but for me it is the best place of all. |
