In the image
God's saddest reflection, a man alone;
I stared upon wind rippled surface
as it came closer and closer still
until my mirrored face touched me
sweet water laid waste to tears
further still, immersion of body
full into sun filled blue balm
covered me like a womb
the air in my chest
turned bitter and stale
and I would be a fish-
gilled to sip my needs-
spin and tussle weightless
with the weight of water
to push and pull by unseen
waterous hands, declare
my undying love of life
within the skin of this living droplet
burning, burning to loose, rise
to breach of this wonder of peace
i close my eyes in air and sunlight
remembering
my restless place in a wider world,
being lost in a breathless embrace;
whispering love to eyes
deep like the waters, that hold me, still...
wet and in the Sun.
