Where are they?

The laughter, still ringing,
all those runners in the field.
The girls are still singing,
in my ears isn't that weird?
Emily chases Robin,
and the butterflies for Sue.
When I and Danny went,
bragging for what we knew.

Everything in front of me,
what was then the yester of me.
All it was the careless and free,
that's how we're taught to be.
Oh the years done their job now,
I know no turning back now.
But my friend I just can't help it,
to let loose and out I give it.

because...
There was a time when we,
tickled the rays of the sun.
The moon was smiling,
and with the stars we had the fun.
There was a time though when,
our dreams were done for free.
And there was a wonder,
in everything we would see.
Wouldn't you tell me please,
where did they go,
those golden days?

Stranded, unrelated,
memories chase me all over.
In those roads I remember so,
to strangers now I'm a stranger.
And there she stands awaiting,
the sweet eyes that I know.
battered by the years, oh yeah,
but the smile is never ever gone.

Grown up to some childhood,
when to the back we dropped the world.
No care, no shame, no shuffle,
staring in the clouds, everyday we would.
That's how was the love we thought,
that's how it was to play.
No soldiers, no guns back then,
no bloodshed all the way.

because...
There was a time when we,
tickled the rays of the sun.
The moon was smiling,
and with the stars we had the fun.
There was a time though when,
our dreams were done for free.
And there was a wonder,
in everything we would see.
Wouldn't you tell me please,
where did they go,
those golden days?

If you just forgive me,
the tear drop in the eye,
the moaning and the sigh,
just tell me,
please tell me,
where are my golden days?
