INTRODCTON
Call us lucky. We got a second chance. Call us ungrateful...
we don't want it.
In other terms... we're basically dead, very close to dead. Other than that were normal people.... I suppose.
So let me clarify- We all live our lives... unfulfilled. So when we die, almost die, Zylocorp gives us another chance.
Zylocorp is a "non-profit" organization where it takes unfulfilled kids like us and saves us from our death bed and brings us back to life... with strings attached.
In return to the extra life, we must work for Zylocorp. In other words we are no longer free. We are their slaves. We are not only brought back to life but given an enhanced life. Our minds are altered. We get powers. We also get depression, loneliness, and mistreatment all rolled up into one nice package. I feel I'm confusing you. I'll start from the beginning...

CHAPTER 1
"Hi my name is Gwenivecia Kathrine Fang and I am seventeen years old," I announced the first day of school. It was unnecessary- I had been there all my life, so had they. But it was what we do every year- and things don't change much around here. "Hello, I'm Everett Byron Slasher and I am seventeen years old," A rather attractive boy announced his name. He is my best friend. My only friend, you can say. It's funny how he has a dark-appearence- goth our peers call us- but he brings me the most happiness anyone could ever bring. "Welcome back, Slasher," A peppy blonde called out from the back, flirt flipping her hair and batting her big, blue eyes. Her look-alike boyfriend sighed in his seat next to her. I wasn't the only one to call him attractive. She walked up to the front: "Skye Skilar." She announced. "Theodore Byrd," Her boyfriend said.
We went through the rest of the class and then focoused our attenetion on the teacher. Or at least tried. The hot Arizona summer melted spirits along with everything else. The sweltering heat and torturing sun was one of the things Gwen hated most. Though it did make her laugh at the irony of her home which, despite the environment was cold and dark.
The teacher released everyone at the end of the day and the students formed together in their groups to have fun and make plans. "Canyon today?" Everett asked pushing his sweaty dark-brown waves away from his eyes. The Grand Canyon was about two hours away by car from where they lived in Prescott Valley. "Later," Gwen said "First I have to make a stop by The Family Dollar," "Really?" Everett shrugged his wide shoulders. Gwen never usually went shopping for my family. Her stay at home Mom would usually take care of it, unlike Everett, who had to steal the little bit of cash his drunken mom had laying around and spend that on groceries. "For Addolyn's birthday party," Gwen explained. "Oh," Everett understood.
Addolyn, Gwen's sister, being the only family member she loved, was the only one Gwen had ever thrown a party for (Everett insisted to no partys or else Gwen would have one for him as well.)
"I need help," Gwen admitted as she scoured the grocery store looking for party items. Usually Gwen wasn't in charge of anything to do with Addolyn's birthday but this year her parents thought business was more important so her Father flew off to his work building in another state, dragging her mother with him. But of course her parents were happy to abandon their two daughters. They hate this dead town as much as the next person.
"Get these," Everett instructed tossing in some brightly packaged balloons. Him being more popular and liked than her, had attended a few party's himself. He used to be invited all the time but as he denied them more and more the invitations decreased.
As Gwen was off into space thinking about how disasterous the party will be she was jolted back to reality when the cary got stuck on a crack in the linoleum. She swore and struggled to push it free. Everett politely took it from her and started pushing it. "Thanks," She mumbled, gathering her long jet-black tresses over her right shoulder. "No problem," He said. "You know Addolyn will love it just because its coming from you," Everett read Gwen's worried expression. She sighed. "I know its just... I wanted to get her something special, it being her tenth year and all. Plus she needs something new being in this town of sameness for ten years." He shrugged. "I'm sure you'll think of something... you always do." "Right," She said. "You don't give yourself enough credit, Gwen," Everett's golden eyes met Gwen's gray ones. "Your really smart." Gwen was struck with silence. Everett's eyes were the most beautiful things she had ever seen and she would always get choked up staring dead into them. He broke away and flipped his hair back into his face.
He added streamers, bags of candy and other snacks into the cart then walked up to the check out line. Gwen handed the cashier the money and they left with their bags. "Did your dad leave the car?" He asked. Gwen nodded. "Canyon?" He brought up again. Gwen nodded again. "Hey," He stopped to look in her face. "Look. If you want to... bring Addolyn..." "No," Gwen replied quickly. She shared a lot with her sister but it seemed like sharing her special spot with Everett seemed like too much. He smiled, revealing his chipped front tooth that Gwen adored. "Thats fine with me," He said "I'll see you." "Bye," They departed.
