The Leap

Tonight I stand
on the edge of this bridge.
Fear has escaped me.

Treading along the wall
I look down into the water below.
A jump of death is in my power.

One quick leap
And I end it all.
I am my maker this night.

No one is here to stop me,
Alone as always.
Would they stop me?

Why would they?
I got myself here,
And I alone can get myself out.

We just have different meanings
of the word “out”.
And tonight I give into the fall.
