Is New Year A Happy Year?

1/1/11 an strange date. This we might not see for another century but injustice that we see on 1st January has become usual for all. Amazing, eye aching fireworks we appreciate that are watched by hungry gazes of poor at very start of the year. Glasses of Champagne when struck together cheer ones and depress others. Drops of tears that don’t produce sound like fireworks are not worth watching for those amused by fireworks and cheered by champagne. What do we celebrate at New Year? Are these celebrations of our being rich or celebrations of someone's cry for food?



New Year celebrations looks more like a resolution that declares poor as ineligible of deserving food, a basic human right, and that they can never have celebrations at New Year ever in their lives. It looks true though; they shout for food and spending money on such a waste with empty tummies is not their thing. Hungry gazes of poor at jeweled buildings and expensive fireworks ashamed me of the celebrations that we had.



I am not against New Year celebrations but I am openly against unequal distribution of wealth among nations that became reason for one’s hunger. Developed nations with this act are inviting terror as I believe poverty and illiteracy are only reasons of conflict. How can we forget millions of people, those who have been victimized, some by war and some by natural disasters. If a little of the money spent over the years on huge celebrations, such as this, had been used to fight poverty we would be safe from terror today. And attaining peace, no doubt, worth more than cheers with two glasses of champagne.
