First section of my poetry.
What a Beautiful Day

I hear you say “What a beautiful day!”
I turn and sigh, I’ve heard the cliché
So why do innocent ones have to pay?
While their murderers slip away.

Ignorance seems to be on sale these days –
When we all ask “Will it be ok?”
The faces we seek have no names;
In the strangest of places we feel safe.

This is where the heartbreak lies
Between lost hellos and never-said goodbyes
Maybe the questions can’t be answered by “Why?”
But in the way we give God our daily lives.

Divine Transcendence

If I were to see you
Could I fall on my face?
If I met you on the street
Would I sanctify my place?

Eternity higher than those
Who degrade your throne
But we, the Christian folks
Can’t find praise for you alone

I wish my mind to stop
And for heart palpitations
To see merely and inch of Your frame
Would end all my machinations

Emotion is a bittersweet thing
Its scent comes and goes
But this undying hope for You
May the fragrance ever grow

Matthew 23 (Warning and Woe)

Watch them as they come, they go
Hands sandblasted white like snow
Starting “revolutions” that keep the same
Status quo, hidden behind a newer name

Everything changes in that day
When wide-eyed multitudes give souls away
Business must go on, as the devil knows
As lives are destroyed all for status quo

Life unguarded, a desolate home
Given up, for a stick and a stone

A Cold Winter’s Day

All I have left are self-taught lies
Hidden under bows, “What a surprise!”

Here they stand to multiply,
Like snowflakes on the ground
I try to be firm and resist,
But they just beat me down

I see now what I’ve been missing
And I know it’s not just a feeling
Through all the war zones I travel through –
Satan knows hurting, but God knows healing
