snow journey written angels music dark clouds
BY DECEMBER 16TH
Riding along a pristine frosty street
Atop a great Clydesdale dredging his feet,
Clouds are darkening: sunset o’erhead
Dense snow lacking challenge for my purebred.
Wrapped up in layers like a bug in a rug
Cashmere socks and a scarf render me snug
Even in the -20°c bone-chilling weather
My heart warms, as we’ll soon be together.
Across an ocean is my journey home
Back into your arms, and back from my roam.
Call it pure madness, committing so young
Countries apart, to you I have clung.
Writing often, makes the distance seem short
Many years we continued to support
This bond that angels appear to assist;
Closer, I hear music drift through the mist.
Lights glow from a house up the stretching road
Such an adventure to reach your abode.
Jubilant shouts arise from the whiteout
I am home; beyond a shade of a doubt.
