A story about the world after 500 years.

Today is 2499 December 31st. Everywhere people are ready to celebrate the 200th birth ceremony of the UniNation. For the last 200 years, the world is almost grown in to a heavenly nation called the UniNation. Although it does not have any headquarters, or, rather have only virtual headquarters, the administration of the UniNation is very simple and efficient. The fact that it extends every inch of the Glob, did not reduce its efficiency.
This time's celebration, apart from being the 200th anniversary, is more joyful for everyone, because, yesterday, the declaration came that uprooting of a concerning problem for the UniNation has become possible.
And the man behind the invention, Dr. Sadharan, is also very much thrilled about it. He is very much aware that it was a problem that made the Nation suffer and the UniNation had pumped energy for his result. And  the thus result is of the nation too. But he felt like floating in happiness and thrill.
After having the breakfast his wife has prepared, he tuned his mind in to the News Today. Telepathic sensors picked up the wish and responded with the current news from interconnected news servers. He skimmed thru them. People are really happy about his work. Everywhere, there are discussions and telepathic exchanges. People are very much relieved about the solution of a concerning problem.
Dr. Sadharan who is a history professor, of UniNation Virtual University, felt much satisfied with his own achievement.
Saying good bye to his wife, he went to the car-plane hanger. Robots have already started their work of cultivation in his yard.
You may be wondering how a history professor could make such an invention. The doubt is because, the problem is unknown to you. I will describe the problem that worried the UniNation, even before its formation.
Due to balance of Nature, even from the pre historic era, the number of men is more or less equal to number of women. With advancement of science, even the small difference in number also went on decreasing. With 23rd century AD, the number of men was exactly equal to the number of women. Except in one place called NURA. NURA was not even geographically separated from its neighbourhoods, but the number of women born in that place was amazingly different from the number of men born. It was about 10% higher during the formation of the UniNation. But it went on increasing in two centuries to around 25%. The virtual government is all worried about this growing number of sex-ratio.
Since the UniNation gave so much importance to families, and sustaining them, it gave all encouragement to formation of couples at very early age.
Since the advancement of telepathic censors, it had become very easy to find out one's life partner, even at the beginning of adolescence. Children that grow into teenage could post their mind's wishes to the relationship server by telepathy and it was wonderful, how amazingly accurate partners where brought together and they made a family in to the age of 100 and even 120 years!.
But this problem of NURA has become much of a concern that the parents of NURA where thought about with empathy by other people. They where given additional grievances by the government for supporting their unmarried daughters, but the problem went on increasing.
Since the total population of NURA was less than 1% of the world's population, the government was helpless to introduce a change in the marriage rules to have two wives for one man. Because the government afraid, it might bring chaos to the family system, that was running cleanly for centuries. More over, it was not socially acceptable.
But the problem around NURA, was a headache for the Government, and people alike. There was no one to be blamed for. There are growing number of divorces, and unfaithful relations.
Dr Sadharan was a kid of NURA – a kid of single parent, obviously mother. No wonder how he became interested in this issue.
He was opened to history (old dictionaries would call it education, a word that sounded like manipulation). With advent of telepathy, it had become more and more easy, to cut the useless part of education, and go directly to what one has inclination to learn. So, Universities started calling the process, opening.
Opening one’s mind is a term that is more natural and clean than the old term, education, which was basically relied on assumptions. “If that is so – this is so”. With present state of mind, there is nothing much called assumption. All are visible with clarity and tidiness.
But this particular problem is a concern for everyone, for centuries and no one could find a solution for it. There is a forcible solution to the problem, which was much discussed about- to abort a female child. But we know everything that Nature provides is for balance and if we try to go forcefully against Nature, it will have drastic side effects.
Before the formation of UniNation, there was a potential error of giving dowry was present. People tried that method as a solution for this problem. It could only solve the problem partially, in the sense, if I give the money and “buy” a husband for my daughter, my problem is over. The amount paid as dowry went on increasing, because, if the number of females is more than number of males in one area, parents of females, who wants to see their daughters get married, naturally bribed male's parents with increasing amounts. That created immense troubles. Things are going in to such a condition that men do not get married for having family- but for having money. Rich females got partners, but they seldom liked their husband, for they knew they were not married for their beauty or intelligence, but their parents' money. So UniNation strictly banned dowry.
But the root cause did not change, so the system still persisted indirectly. Instead of paying dowry, some girl's parents tried to become very rich and, by their death, the fortune will be owned by the girl. So some girls got married for this reason.
We are going back to Dr. Sadharan. So he was concerned about this problem, even before he was opened to history. When in schools, when other students talked about their parents, he would get frustrated. His frustration was many times recorded by the telepathic servers. These servers usually help people in panic by pre-compiled answers that might solve their problem. But in these cases, neither the servers had the answer.
One thing that he noticed when he was grown up, travelled, and met with people from other part of the world, is the men from NURA did not have much liking to woman. They are easily attracted to woman, but the liking was not very strong. They are easily moved by other women, especially singles.
Sadharan, at his young age, has envied people from other part of the world, when he saw the affection and commitment of pairs. But alas, there was no solution for his problems.
From his early age, he had an inclination to history. So he decided to open his mind to history. After completing the school, he applied to the Department of History, of the UniNation Virtual University, through telepathic servers. The professors of history in department, queried him telepathically. And found he has genuine inclination towards history, and was accepted for opening in history.
Throughout his time in the University, in the base of his mind, there was a wish to apply history to solve this problem. He thought it was possible, because there is a Historical linkage to the problem. When all other problems subsided, to a tranquil world with love and affection, only the sex-ratio of NURA stood out and grown.
So the subject of his research was “Historical pattern of growth of sex-ratio among NURA people”. He was awarded doctorate after 3 years of opening.
He was married to a rich girl from NURA. We know, he is in no way different from other men. So he opted for the best, in terms of fortune. But his wife was very loving to him. This happens, in some cases, due to inherent nature of particular girls. Even if he knew himself in his mind, that he cannot have all the affection to his wife, he had a very good family life. He had a child, again a girl.
Moving more into years of wedding, his liking fluctuated not even from his wife, to other single girls, but some where in his happiness, he noticed that he liked himself or his own mind than anyone else's. Finding out this was a little shocking to him.
Some where during his opening in university, he was opened to a century old research, that human love is different from other animal's, because it has something to do with re-births. People who where known in one life, has more things to communicate, and it has a tendency to continue even in other rebirths. Research explained vaguely, that the other animals do not have re-births because, they do not have knowledge, and so they live so simple a life that they leave nothing to be taken back from Earth. But unfortunately, the University was against the research, due to its standing policies about rebirths, and they stopped the funding. So it remained incomplete.
By opening, to this research, the first thing that went in to Dr Sadharan's mind was, the First Sin of Adam in Bible. The first sin of ADAM was to eat the fruit of knowledge.
If having knowledge is first sin that could be the cause of rebirths- he thought.
That day, on the way to NURA Centre of Department of History, he landed his car-plane some where and drove to a mango plantation. Robots where working there. They kept the place very neat and tidy. Green mangoes where hanging from every tree. He parked his care-plane under a tree and connected to the Department of Psychology thru telepathy.
He knew, being in his home, or in his office, he would not be able to do this, because, he did not want anybody to know about his own concern. Here there are only robots, those do not have their own will. So they will not interfere with his loneliness.
Upon connecting the psychology department could only vaguely understand the problem. They too did not have a ready made solution… So he has another problem to solve on his own. This situation is not common in UniNation, where every problem has a solution. And only thing you need to do is, eat, be healthy and love.
Dr. Sadharan asked the professor of Psychology, not to take-up the problem, because, he want to investigate his mind by himself. He did not like to be a study material to others.
He went on rolling this problem for days in his mind. Two-three times his wife asked, if there is any thing that he is disturbed with. But he did not want to disclose his mind, out of the fear that she would consider him as not normal.
Finally, an idea appeared in his mind. It was something like a convolution. Two-three different ideas that was not his own, suddenly formed into a single entity. He posted it in his personal telepathic space like this:

Knowledge-heroism-rebirth- families are encouraged by UniNation. Mainly due to this, there are more heroes than heroines in real life. So more women may have a liking towards the heroes, and an inclination to live with them.
Suddenly-okay- he could put it clearly in to words. People of NURA, are mostly, re-born heroes. When they where heroes, more females where attracted them, other than their wives. So naturally, the unquenched wish made them reborn in the same place and time, with an unseen wish to be with each other.
The heroes’ words, their theories, their songs are quoted even today, by men and women, so their soul has no peace of mind. They cannot concentrate on loving their family! Simple. They are even self-satisfied, they do not want women.          All these see to pack together, but how to prove it? How to prove that one is rebirth of so-and-so?
He was happy and at the same time, bewildered. The most he worried was the end result... To stop this problem stop heroism! Not for anybody else, but for one's own wellbeing...
He has invented a solution, for a centuries old problem, and if he wants to escape from the same problem, he should not to be a hero! What a situation!
Anyway, Dr.Sadharan planned to do some work by himself, and if he could get any solid evidence, he could passover it to the government, and he hoped that they will take it up further.. He thought about it for a week or so. And came up with a method, that would possibly plot the rebirths.
As we know from the beginning of the story, teenagers post their wishes to a telepathic server and the responses were so accurate. Dr Sadharan thought he could use this database in combination with telepathic interviews with reported cases of rebirth claims.
The intention of the study would be to see if there is any connection to be found between the claim of rebirth, to the actual teen age query that are made by them/towards them, to the stories of historic persons they claim to be reborn of.
Dr Sadharan has selected three such cases, where they claimed of having last life on 21st and 22nd centuries. This age was important because, most events were well documented. And at the same time, it was before the formation of UniNation, where things are standardized, even overlooking personal likings. He studied the period in detail. That was post war period. People really started wishing their living be in peace and worked for it. Many sign boards read- “Be 100% safe always and walk towards justice”. He was proud that mankind has achieved all these, by conscious efforts. It was time when the governments dismantled nuclear weapons and made them in to energy correcting devices to solve climate problems. Many of the people carried a thing called telephone- telepathic sensors took so long a time to develop!
Dr Sadharan compiled his report and sent to the Government group, who studied the case of NURA. Despite government policies, that discouraged studies of rebirth, since they where so much concerned about the problem, they took up the study in a large scale. And the result was what we saw in the beginning of the story…
The Government agreed to the TRUTH and they have modified marriage rules with immediate effect, to allow more than one wives to a man, but with condition that adequate counselling be given to the affected, by a board of psychologists and history experts.
Also the government took a step to discourage heroism. If one achieves something great, he will be immediately brought to an opening to comparable achievements of other people, and be made aware of how ordinary his or her achievement is. The government hopes this would discourage the person from moving in that direction, again. This would be as if a parent forcing his or her child to drop a sharp knife, it accidentally took in its hand.
What Dr Sadharan received in his office was a great welcome. They all knew that, this is a heroic achievement. In the evening, he thanked everyone in his office, for the empathy and co-operation he received. He left to home in his car-plane happily.
Dr Sadharan landed his car-plane in his yard, and parked in the hanger. He walked to home. His wife was collecting ripen mangoes from the small mango tree, in front of their house. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder. And he said he is sad. “After all these achievements, I have to undergo the opening. I feel as if I am losing something so preciously my own”.
Wife consoled him. “That is okay, man! Only due to such sacrifices, of every man, we live in such a tranquillity of this era!
He smiled with his wide eyes, as if he got another opening. He drew her close and kissed. “Thanks!” said Dr Sadharan. They walked in to the house.
