Georgia Stiles considered herself to be one kick-ass real estate agent. Prime listings and quick sales. Except this one.

Old man Lister’s kids had been trying to convince him to down-size for years. Georgia was basically on stand-by waiting for the eight-million dollar premises to become hers but the old goat wasn’t going along with the family wishes. So she decided to make him.

Hiding the murder weapon was easy; one of the benefits of her business. She had stopped by to visit the unsuspecting victim on the pretence of a no obligation assessment. Only the two of them knew she was there that day; and now one had been silenced.

The prints on the gun belonged to some loser from Iowa she met at her second cousins wedding last month. She had overheard that he had some kind of previous record so he made a convenient fall guy for her plan. When she offered to buy the second round, she kept his glass and the next day transferred prints to gun with ordinary everyday tape. She’d seen it done on a multitude of cop shows, so there had to be some validity to it. Even if only one print proved effective then that was enough.

She tried to hide her smile as she looked down at the coffin, thoughts of a half-million commission dancing in her head. She turned as the daughter of the deceased moved beside her.

“I’m so sorry for your loss Heather.”

“Thanks Georgia, I appreciate you being here.”

“I’ll call you next week about the listing; give you time to sort things out.”

“Oh, there’s no need, but thank you. Dad left the property to the heritage society, they’re going to turn it into a library and community learning centre. Isn’t that great news?”
