Observe details with your senses.
Observe as a sensory camera:

din and rumble of the trash truck grinding its gears
droning buzz of a gasoline edger
monotonous hum of a blower
shrill whistle of a redbird, caw of a crow, screech of a bluejay, tick tick tick of a woodpecker
coo, coo, coo of a dove
shiny, eye-squinting glare off a car's windshield
slinging his head back, bottle tipped at an angle, water gurgles out into his mouth
droopy pants, stretched t-shirt, sunglasses, sunburned skin, raggedy tennis shoes
cigarette hanging on his lip
doing the "watusi" as he ground out his cigarette
lip reading epithets as the edger refused to engage
hands thrown in the air in exasperation
two guys sitting on the tailgate munching burgers and fries
clanging rattle of recyclables as they disappeared into the depths of the trash truck
rhythmic back and forth motion of the raking landscaper, heel and toe, heel and toe
haze of blue oily smoke as the trash truck pulled away
fresh clean scent of newly cut grass
familiar braking of the mail carrier and the metallic rub of the mailbox closure
