Where does one go when they are hiding within themselves?
Walls of Silence

You wonder where I go
when I lock myself away
when tears cloud my eyes
and I have no words to say

I start on a mountain
where the wind blows in my face
where clouds are blue and peaceful
and yet it's still a lonely place

I venture through the trees
looking for a friend
but when all I find are walls
I feel I've reached the end

The walls close in around me
too high for me to scale
and though I try to break them
I admit I always fail

I hear your accusing question
tell me "what did I do?"
and for once I just wish
you'd stop thinking about you

This is not your prison
these walls are not to keep you out
keeping me locked inside
is what this is all about

I know that you're outside
but I'm trapped in here alone
and though I hear your voice
we're seperated by miles of stone

Each brick is filled with emotion
those which I can't control
and just when I feel I'm safe
I find myself in a deeper hole

Then the tears erupt again
fillng the pit I've cleared
and swimming in this ocean
are all the sharks I've feared

Suddenly I feel I can swim
Escape the dangers taunting me
and once I reach the safety of land
I realize I'm still not free

Again I'm on the mountain
a little higher up this time
and as I make my way down, I think
the walls should be harder to find

They are, it takes a little longer
I start to hope they'll fall
but by the time I reach them
they stand ten times as tall

And on and on it goes
for as far as I can see
I seem to only find peace
when I can finally fool me
