A Reviewer's Sigh

I'm not a poet.
Believe me, I know it.
I avoid reading rhyme at all cost.
But another reviewer
Said your poem was truer
Than others that might have me lost.

I winced and I whined
At what I might find
When I clicked and popped into your port.
Your po-ems tell stories
Of vict'ries and glories
And battles and things of that sort.

My interest was captured.
My reading, enraptured.
This old man, his memories shared.
My heart set to pounding.
His memories resounding
With wonder; how boldly we dared.

You've caused a conversion
With your words' assertion.
This tale touched me right to my core.
Ignoring mechanics,
Hanging on to dynamics.
Isn't this what true poetry's for?
