A poem about the signs of autumn.
"The Writer's Cramp
NEW PROMPT:
To celebrate beginning of Autumn in the Northern Hemisphere, write a STORY or POEM that include ALL of the following words/phrases, exactly as they appear below, and bolded to make them easier for the judge to find them tomorrow:

equinox
balance
full moon
a pile of leaves
sweater
fireplace

Signs of Autumn

I have heard it said but
my own success I won't pretend,
at the exact time of the equinox,
a chicken's egg will balance on its end.

Perhaps the full moon
and its gravitational pull,
are strongest at this time
when the harvest moon is full.

It's usually getting cooler
at this time of year,
A pile of leaves and a woolly sweater
means winter's getting near.

Go out and chop some firewood,
then stack it up to dry.
Clean out the fireplace,
watch the geese, as south they fly.
