                              Rowboat Upon Glassed Waters



Rowboat upon glassed waters

          basked in solitude of crimson sunset.

                    Reflecting awareness,

                                        his destiny flowing.


Docks complete, venison cured

          ice fishing now beyond the horizon.

                    Readying for rest,

                                        his life blood slowing.


Spectral prologue aurora borealis

          shadowing fires of distant Ojibwa camps.

                    Longing to dance,

                                        his ancestors calling.


Canadian mist quietly envelopes

          mournful cry of loon serenades.

                    Succumbing to sleep,

                                        his breath now failing.


Ambling moose, suckling calf

          rugged gentleness Lac Seul remembers.

                    Amidst his untamed wilderness,

                                        forever now sleeping.
