Learning to move on
I know theres a storm out
We still have to take this walk
This time we must take different paths
I think it will be easier if we don’t talk

I face my path
The puddles are knee high
Im used to you holding my umbrella
Doing the most to keep me dry

I turn back like a fool
You’re well on your way
Confidence in every stride
While I wonder like a stray

Remember when you held me close
And stroked my face to sleep
Telling me don’t be afraid
That you were mine to keep

And when I fell for you
You said don’t be afraid at all
Youd always be there to catch me
And I wouldn’t even have to call

But Im screaming for you now
You cant hear me through the wind
Im falling too fast
Now the impact has me pinned

Im too drained to hurt
I just lay and think
As I remember you’re gone
I feel myself start to sink

My storm is still raging
I know I must keep going
I force my way through
And notice the wind is slowing

I don’t need this liquid cure
Only a strong mind with steady legs
The strength to not look back
Just keep my focus straight ahead

I wont think of you
Until your memory comes without tears
Ill take care of myself
The way you did for those three years

With these vows to myself
Each step gets lighter
And the sun is out now
Making my path much brighter

I know the rainclouds
Will be back with more
Ill be waiting with open arms
Welcoming the pour

Ill show you my lovely
I can handle my own
Dare me to go out
Ill face the storm

With no turning back this time
I wish you clear skies
Cool nights and warm days
Laughter instead of cries
