Dream

The night was dark yet lightning lit the scene,
Grays and blacks of my despondent dream.
The beach, the sea, the flaying, thrashing waves,
The dying moon, the echos of dim rays.
And broken gulls lay strewn upon the sand,
And broken wings refused my helping hand.
