"Rofez... tell me something, honestly. How many people have you killed in your life?" |
Writhing Shadows. The shadows writhed on the curtain of the room. The candle light flickered softly, only adding to the movement. He heard nothing but ardent breathing. Sharp sighs. Shuddering gasps. He felt good. Better than good. Invigorated. In his mind, even through the lust, the words rang and spurred each other on, vivid recollections of the past he would carry with him for the rest of his life, mingled with the vividness of the moment. Just as powerful... less painful for the pleasure.... the distraction. Aley Diams: Rofez... tell me something, honestly. Aley Diams: How many men have you killed in your life? The touch of her skin was so soft against him. Everything about her felt so good and yet throughout these moments of passion he felt only yearning for more. To bury himself in the desire of her. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: ... Why? Aley Diams: Tell me. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: I don't keep a count. Aley Diams: Guess... tens, hundreds, thousands? His vision was satisfactorily hazed and though it made a whole world of difference to his companion that she was the one here with him, it mattered to him not at all. If not her then someone else whose face would be as equally intangible by the haze across his eyes. Yet... like all of them.... he knew her kiss.... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: *Doesn't look particularly comfortable, but he's neither smug nor ashamed of his own response* Hundreds I could guess confidently. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: Thousands... I don't know. Aley Diams: So what's one more person's blood on your hands... He squeezed her hands, pinned at either side of her head below him as they locked lips, their fingers firmly intwined. His kiss intense. Aley Diams: ... Let me go, Rofez. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: What's that supposed to mean? *Flatly* Aley Diams: Make all this stop. "Oh gods... Don't stop..." came the urgent murmur. His hands could not help but squeeze hers more tightly as their shadows continued to dance provocatively behind the candle light on the curtain. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: I can't, Aley. I can't fix the tangled mess you have gotten yourself into. Aley Diams: Please... please... make this all stop. Let me go. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: *He gets to his feet from beside Aley and steps backwards, staring at him darkly* Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: I can't fix you. You can either try yourself... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: Or you can keep making it worse. That isn't my choice to make. Aley Diams: You can fix me. *eyes Rofez's sword sheaths* He was loosely aware of the twisted bed sheets wrapped about them as the lust continued to heighten, but only for the briefest moment it took for him once again to find himself enrapt with her. Sweat beaded lightly on his brow and all over his body. She gasped at a motion. Aley Diams: Please. It was utterly impossible for them to be coiled any more closely about each other and yet still, they both pressed in, wanting more. His thoughts finally began detaching from his mind and from each other as a result of the inner fire taking him over. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: Why are you doing this? *Quietly* This feeling. This is what he wanted. She was what he wanted. Aley Diams: Don't make me beg. Aley Diams: Do it... His thoughts blanked completely and for the long moments that followed, passion took him. All he knew was her. Her scent. The taste of her kiss. The feel of her against him. The sound of her harsh breathing. The look in her eyes and the movements of them both together until finally, all subsided and quietened. The candle had burned itself down to nothing and the curtains were dark and still once more. She had slipped into reverie beside him and this was the time he'd hoped to do the same, willing the welcome haze of the drugs to take him into the oblivion of dreams. But the thoughts found him again there. Aley Diams: Why am I asking you... Aley Diams: I guess... because I trust you enough to make it quick. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: That's it? Aley Diams: No... despite your hatred of me, I still think of you as a friend... and as much as I hate to ask you to do it... Aley Diams: I would rather a friend do it. I would rather see it coming. Aley Diams: I want to go out on my terms. Aley Diams: I guess... I don't trust myself enough not to mess something up. Aley Diams: *He looks around the room* I don't have anything to hang myself off, and even if I did, that takes time. Aley Diams: And I don't have a blade to stab myself. Aley Diams: So how am I suppose to go out on my own terms? Aley Diams: Only you can do this. Aley Diams: Justian won't help... I don't think Keth would. Or Riell. Aley Diams: Abi... maybe, but I doubt it. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I will do it... I will smooth it over and do this one thing for you. But just ask... as my brother... or else walk away, right now and change your mind. Aley Diams: We're not brothers, Rofez... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I don't care. I have a loyalty to you. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] If you will not ask as my brother, for me to do this, then I can't do it. *Simply* Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I won't believe it's what you want... because I don't trust who you are. I trusted who you were. So ask me as him. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] Or walk away. Aley Diams: *He chokes at those words* Aley Diams: I really missed talking to you like this, you know... like brothers. I always said I imagined the two of us growing old, lying on the grass... Aley Diams: Giving knights and guards grey hairs while we chase some skirt. Aley Diams: [Party] *chuckles bitterly* Had to screw that up, didn't I? Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I only wanted a reason to forgive you. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] You never gave me one. Aley Diams: [Party] I'm sorry for that... I really wish I could have. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] You just kept giving up...Kept letting me down every time you decided to try... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] After a while I stopped hoping. There's only so much someone can take. Aley Diams: *nods* Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] And here you are, giving up again.... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] And here I am, talking you through it.... *Sighs* Again... Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] It's always been like this. Aley Diams: *Closes his eyes* So what will you do? Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] You really want to know? Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] Most wouldn't. Aley Diams: I want to know. Aley Diams: I told you, I want to know it's coming. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] *Sighs, he can't seem to bring himself to actually speak at 'normal' volume lest his voice betray him or quaver* Two choices then, the heart or the throat. The throat will take longer but won't feel as... 'sickening'. Everything will black out slowly and you'll feel dizzy, probably like smoking a weed roll before you phase out. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] The heart will look more convincing. It will be quicker but more painful, more of a shock, less of an easy .. ... pass. Aley Diams: How long with the heart? Seconds? Minutes? Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] Seconds... unless I make a mistake. Aley Diams: So don't. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] ... I won't tell them, you know. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I won't tell them the truth. Aley Diams: I don't follow. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I will tell them that we fought. *Simply* Aley Diams: And then what? Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] That the only way I could even defeat you was to wait until your seeing spell wore off.... before taking you unprepared. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] I've never seen you as the type to go down easily. Only ever to yourself. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] You might not have pride for yourself. Inquisitor General Rofez Eliin: [Whisper] But I still do. The vagueness finally, finally engulfed him. The dreams subsided into comforting nothing as her steady breathing beside him lulled him, body and mind, into merciful fatigue. |
