The Talisman- Prologue

                                                                                    PROLOGUE
Seth held his younger brother tightly against his quivering shoulder.  He could only stand and watch as the last of the scorching embers were put out.  The cottage that he once called home now resembled a pile of hot, grey ash.  The freezing wind danced around the village as the sun set on the colorful horizon.  The village cast an aureate glow on the outskirts of the cool, apathetic forests that surrounded.  As dusk approached, the soft blinking lights of this village known as Ranozaki slowly faded.  An accumulation of soot caused Seth to cough lightly into the palm of his tawny, calloused hands.  His younger brother Wolfe sniffled and tried to fight back the tears that gently flowed down his cheeks, for he knew that his parents had been killed in the arson that took place here at his cottage.  Seth wrapped an arm around Wolfe and held him even tighter.  Seth’s mind raced with many thoughts.  His gaze gradually drifted to the stars as he unsteadily sighed.  This tragedy marked the beginning of the new life that the two brothers would have to endure together.
