Take a gaze from another's eyes, the eyes of one viewing a severe Scizophrenic lapse.
Scizophrenia
7-4-10

Curled up into a tight ball
Arms over your head
And eyes squeezed shut so tight
To say yhe least it hurts.
You're drowning in cold sweat
A scraggly blanket but your all
Standing between you and
The unspeakable terror of your mind.
The lights are flickering-
Or could it just be me?
Footsteps of the impending
Chaotically grace the path unto you
Footfall after footfall
An earthquake in the mist-
Silence.
You're crying now
Straining to be quiet
But can't conceal the sobs...
Shh! He'll hear us!
It's stifling you
A word plays through
Your manic mind:
Breathe.
Yet all you taste is skin
Gagging at the lack of air
Teeth close in a mocking attempt
Blood flows down your throat
And you choke out loud,
Eyes bursting open to see
A fearful eyed woman
Clutching a wounded hand
She whimpers
You've done it
He's coming for us now.

The footsteps grow louder
Dragging in your direction
His raspy voice bellows
Kind of slurred, far away
But creeping forward ever so fast
"Ah'm home, sonny boy!
Open the door for an ole' friend..."
Silence.
Drowning in the silence
It's possible, I swear
As you and the woman
Who wears nothing more than rags
Choking on her tears
Gathering in her throat
So salty, dry
She can't swallow
Butterflies in her esophagus
Pressure just behind her mouth
Knock
Knock
Knock
The door came crashing down
Lightning silhouetting a figure
Garbed in black
A wide brimmed hat concealing eyes
The girl could take it no more-
She puked.

You share gaping eyes
Fear rising in your gut
Unanimously screaming in
Genuine terror-
The lightning fades
The last of the latter
Glinting off of a lengthy knife
As the wind takes off his hat
A crazy laugh fills your ears
Shocked at such pale skin
Highlighting bloodshot eyes
Switching to a reverse grip on the knife.

A final bolt of lightning flares
Crashing straight at the opressor
A glimmer of hope brings awe to lips
As the lightning fades away
You see him lying dead
Smoke rising from his boots
You cackle a nervous laugh
A desperate embrace in shock
Giddy on a fleeting mind
High on the passing terror
You can't stop laughing
Hysterical, no?

But soft! What is that
For whom is the dead upon
My floor, for whom is he...
But whom is this for me?
Scratching and rasping
Slowly slithering upon your floor
Can you hear it?
Slow and steady,
Oh! can you feel it?
No, you are laughing too hard...
Hysterical.

All of a sudden the girl screams
Her mouth wide, pointing
As you reach under the pillow
Grasping a six shooter
But can you grip it in time?
After all, your hands are oh so sweaty
Your fingers slip on the metal
As you turn around and see
A figure limping towards
Lit afire and melting
The acrid scent of burning flesh
Slithers into your nose
A reign of fire pursues his
Desperately meaningful steps
He stands above you
Sickly grotesque and boiling
You finger the gun in last hope
As his arm mechanically raises
The gun discharges
As the figure falls to his knees
A window shatters
Bang.

Your heart is beating so fast
You can't help but clutch it
As you roll out of bed
And land in a pool of blood
Boiling hot and sticky
You drag yourself away
Muttering incomprehensibly
The lights flicker on.

The fiance saw him
Curled up in the corner
Crying so hard he gasped
Face in his hands
Whole body shaking
She walked over and
Placed a hand upon your shoulder
Need I say wet to the touch?
You meekly whisper
"Is it over?"
And she whispers "yes"
Bending over she kisses your forehead
You whisper, it takes awhile
But you find the words
As she helps you up
"Let me hold you
Embrace me, please
Ward off this plague
With the remedy of
A lover's touch"
She leans close,
And you take her face
Lightly in your hands
Gazing into her eyes
She leans in to kiss you
And as your fingers slide off her facee
So does the skin.
Streaks of blood opened
Along the porcelin cheeks
Closed eyes leaning in
Driplets of blood drop onto you
The lightning rages
Knock, knock
Do you hear the rasping
Can you feel the scratching
Your sanity trying to escape
You stare in sheer, mortal terror
As you cast away her limp body
Yet the blood keeps flowing
Even as the skin decays
Bang, bang
More bullets, but it doesn't stop
The bleeding hastens
A pool of blood at your ankles
The gun feels heavy in your hands
You forget how to grip it
Watching your body collapse.

The nurses scream
The hospital in panic
All means of emergency forces
Rush o the door - locked
They crowd the window
Stupified in shock
And terror at the sight of
A pregnant woman on the floor
The husband on the other side -
They beat at the glass
It's cracking, a doctor cuts
His hand and screams as
The window shatters
The thought on everyone's mind -
Save the baby!

A voice beckons to you
Arise, boy, rise!
I'm not finished with you
As your eyes dialate
You see him creeping to a stand
Skin peeling off
Limping towards you
You crawl to your knees
Fumpling for a weapon -
For anything -
You finally remember the gun
Shaky hands surprisingly hastening
A death tight grip ,as
You stare down the sights...
Bang!
    Bang!
          Bang!
The creature laughs
Flickering a bullet off his collar bone
Muscles slipping away
A laughing skeleton limps to you
As you pull the trigger
Click!
    Click!
          Click!
Empty.
As your sanity escapes
And darkness overcomes
You raise the six shooter
To your throat and whisper
"Bang."
As the world
Hastily recedes,
Silence.

The doctors and nurses
Rushed in, confused
As to the man dead on the floor
Six bullets in the wall
A pistol held to his jugular
The trigger pressed
Yet no bullet wound
Silence.

A baby was born
As a whisper crawled about the air:
Depression or Scizophrenia
Somewhere inbetween-
Welcome to my world,
A curse of the insomniac.
