This poem was written by me and is about my life.
Who Am I

Who am I ?
I’m the baby you hit and starved
I’m the toddler passed around from home to home.
I’m the child stood all alone in the playground,
The child without her own family.
I’m the child picked last of all for the school team.
The child no-one wants to invite to parties.
I’m the one playing alone in the street
Dodging the stones you threw at me.

I’m the child you thought was ok for a quick grope.
I’m the child you humiliated day after day.
I’m the young girl who’s face you spat in.
I’m the young girl trying to find somewhere warm and dry to sleep.
The girl rooting through the bins after dark, for something to eat.
I’m the young girl who wants to give up and die
The girl who only ever wanted to be loved
Not rejected time and time again.
I’m the girl who feels no pain as the blade cuts deeper.
The girl who’s mind is miles away as she swallows the pills.
Who am I ?
I’m the girl you thought it would be fun to sexually abuse.
I’m the girl who was made to feel worthless, dirty.
The young girl who had hopes and dreams.
The girl who’s hopes and dreams you shattered.
I am the girl in solitary confinement.
The girl huddled in the corner.
The odd ball, the freak.

Who am I ?
I am the young mum with a new baby.
Still fighting the world alone.
I am the mum sat by the hospital bed whilst being accused of starving my child.
I am the mum of the child you never thought to test for a milk allergy.
I am the mum you chose to condemn because I was a single parent on a council estate.
I am the mum you never apologised to when you found out you were wrong.
Who am I ?
I am the woman laying in bed alone at night and crying.
Lonely, rejected.
I am the woman who you said would never make anything of herself.
I am that woman who has a handful of diploma’s but no confidence to do anything with them.
I am the woman who’s confidence and self-esteem you took away.
I am the woman you lied to and used.
I am that woman who still sits alone, still cries
Still being rejected.
Who am I ?
I am a human being with feelings.
