On evolution, ode to Charlie D
Green slime, why do I think it would be “green slime”
Might have been on crystals in clay
Might have been underground
Far from the day
After night, after day after week, night after night, year, after millions of years
Take the message of Mr. Charles Darwin to 6 odd billion ears
We’ve come a long way to get here
Before “we” were we, living in trees
We’ve been changing, balding, growing cortex
Inventing Gor-Tex and the Fender Tex-Mex; and Oedipus Rex
From Oedipal kickers to edible knickers, the great machine (fuelled by sex)
Carries on, making babies while grappling causes variation; Nature selects
Simply the best...or the “good enough to do” make it through
The fine mesh of Her filters on life are variations of a theme of “Earth”
Variance bred the idea of verity; serenity in the glow of the Sun
Little ones, the kids survive, so the kids are just all right with me
What a relief; if, 100,000 years ago some molecule thithered, not hithered
There’d be no me
Chance and necessity; law and happenstance.
