Love does not end with death |
The Grave Dance Watching white headlights pass into red taillights the wind is angry this last October night The sky is black, the air is crisp and one sad soul has waited an entire year for this Tonight the dead come out to dance To glide freely across shadows they can't make anymore Their whispers ride the air coming from nowhere and everywhere Every move a tribute to the freedom in death Every word a memorial to a life lost to regret One sad souls looks upon this fluorescent ballet waiting for his dancer to draw near He still has her face and smile memorized Even though he only sees her once a year In death she feels nothing, not even pain But this one October night she can feel love with him and him with her while her face is sweetly aglow For hours they hover above meaning Existing as flesh wrapped in shadow The silence of night their song to dance to Peace lingers angelically on the wind as his love allows her to live again Her Heavenly glow alights his smiling face as once again his kiss becomes something she is able taste A crack of thunder rumbles from the sky In time too soon they fall As the breaking sun signals love's last call The dead must be dead again Slowly her face dims then goes dark altogether Time is up and they are no longer one As she fades from this world a single glowing tear falls from her eye resembling a mourning star crawling across a nighttime sky Once the dead are back in the grave he turns toward home Filling with sadness as daylight draws near He has nothing to do now but quietly wait remembering her face until this day next year. |
