Someone Who Cares The old woman's steps were so labored and slow, she was just shuffling along with no place to go. There once was a time when she smiled with pride with three little children walking close by her side. They've grown and gone and she is left quite alone. Many were the reasons why she gave up her home. Standing empty and boarded up, there's nothing more she could do except turn and look back at the door. Ghosts of the past brought bitter tears to her eyes, decisions had to be made and some were not wise. She carried her most precious memories; no doubt that she didn't know or care just how cold it was out. Stopping to rest, she sat down on a bench in the park. They found her later that day, just before it got dark. Her hands clasped together as if saying her prayers and they knew she finally found someone who cares. For God in His mercy looked down on the pitiful sight and knew that she truly needed His coming that night. When the world turns its back on the ones who weep, He offers a place up in Heaven and gives eternal sleep. Countrymom 3/24/10 |
