WAITING
It has rung again,
the prisoner's early morning bell.
Another day of hard labor lies ahead.
I turn in my bed.
The birds are already chanting in the morning sky
calling upon themselves, celebrating the new day.
It stirs imagination within me,under my blanket
as i wait for yet another day of waiting.
Am like a prisoner waiting for his day of release
perhaps the prisoner is better, for he knows when.
I wait with uncertainty, with anxiety
as days pass and nights pass.
With no more warmth in my bed,
a vague light in my days,
I wait with a restless heart
for the day of my release.
I feel a stranger in my own room
as my thoughts wander as i wait,
as i wait for the day
his sweet, shy smile will give way to words
