The picture of moonlight and you is still clear
on my mind, its joy staying fresh as ever dear.
Your cherubic face filled this mother’s heart
as you waved to the lord of the night to start
frolicking with him in the heavenly stream
of silvery delight, in a land of golden dream.
As the red moon rose silent, slow, and sedate
behind the darkened hills changing a bit late
into a bronze orb to a cool round of white,
you, my darling were thrilled at the sight.
While the white radiance spread over the land
my very heartbeat, my fair child held my hand
danced with me twirling round and round,
your tinkling laughter, a delightful sound.
Moonlight and you made endearing magic
erasing gloom leaving no trace of the tragic.
