He sits on the cliffs and thinks of Her.
Looking out he sees the waves,
like azure fields, rush in
over and over again.
On the crest of the largest wave,
He thinks he sees Her.
Hair shining with the sun,
standing on the water,
as if orchestrating each movement of the tides.
He rushes off the cliff, to the shore.
He knows She will be here soon.
Wave after wave crashes in,
but none of them carry Her.
She has beaten him to the shore and moved on.
He sees Her often,
is drawn to the ocean side,
running to be there when she arrives.
But she never does.
Lonely, he walks back to his cave.
Soon night will come, and He must head out.
Many will dream of Her tonight.
Many seek Her, yet can only see Her in dreams.
He knows he will go to her, too,
as he does everynight.
But when he awakens, She will be gone.
Alone again, each searching for the other,
their lives go on.
