living for now then past pain comes when you are not expecting it
ONCE UPON A TIME

Light came and flooded the darkness,
Emptiness filled with hope of today,
Happiness circled from the inside out,
Squashing the fear that had hung about,
Good replaced bad,
Calming the mind,
Allowing the past to come from behind.

The wall was down,
The guard forgotten,
Freedom prevailed in a heart thought to be gone,
Breaking the chains that had clung so long.
Yet darkness lurks where we least expect
Crushing the light we had come to accept
Returning the pain to where shadows had been axed.

Swamped again in fear and sorrow,
Drowning out thoughts of hope in tomorrow,
Darkness floods where light had stood,
Shutting out all the feelings of good.
The fear bounced back flooding the mind,
Allowing the chains to come from behind.
Locked up now with all light denied!
