I WRITE TO

I write to remember,
I write to forget,
I write to understand
the pain that is part of life.

To feel the pity
for the poor,
the war victims oppressed,
the old, a burden to all.

I write to survive,
in this world of mockery and disdain.

I write to feel love,
For men, women, children alike.

I write to cross the river of life,
to see the other side,
past obstacles, boulders,
and waterfalls.

I write to
see paradise ahead of me,
Where happiness and beauty is all.
