The Romantic Light

The hot rhythm of the drums ebbed out into the endless dark night, crackling fire and jingling ankle bells, the girls danced as the flames cast long lashing shadows around the glade, the darkness of the night held to the bounderies of the light and sound. The two began their dance with small, coy steps and movements, slowly moving together like serpents, whirling ancient desirous energies which rose in their sinews as their future pulled and lifted them on. His muscles tense and rigid, sweat beads shone in their vapourous arcs, his eyes gulping her eyes pouring they raised lowered fell together, gripping and straining, jumping and spinning.
They stuttered and slowed in the cool breeze that swept their attention away to the feelings of oneness together in the night air, he squeezed her body gently, and she pushed towards him, climbing to that shared time of endless love and unforgettable memory.
The smell of her perfume and the sound of the music made him close his eyes. This moment was pure ecstasy, he wanted it to last forever... As his hand rested gently upon her soft and supple waist, he felt a deep rush, want and need welled up in him. The skin of her cheek brush lightly against his, and her lips full buds caress his waiting, eager mouth. The feel of her warm, firm body moving in unhindered rhythm to the undulating mood, made him suddenly see her. The moment pierced his heart.. .. and he fell headlong, his mind and body yearning to be her's...

When he awoke, the light was just beginning to appear beyond the horizon. In the paleness of the dawn light he could see her face, eyes gently closed, mouth slightly open, and her slow relaxed breathing, moving like a soothing tide that laps at the shimmering sand and plays an eternal tune upon the strings of his heart. This was love, at its best. Like the ripe fruit of summer, picked by a knowing eye and a discerning touch, the time was right. And as if God had set this moment aside purely for his approval, he melted back down upon the floor, his arm round her waist once more, and as if he had had an eternity to waste, he settled back into a deep wonderful sleep, the warmth of her body and the smell of her hair filling him with hope and wonderful contentment.
