Who, and why, did they come up with this title for the first world war?
They called world war one 'The War To End All Wars'
What did they mean? .. Who coined the phrase? ..
To me, it is a bit like saying 'A gun to shoot all guns' What did they hope to achieve by this noble title?
Well, it made everyone believe, in their innocence, that it was a war worth fighting, if there is such a thing?
They all came out so bravely to join the fight for peace thinking that 'it would all be over by Christmas'.
How can we achieve peace by fighting? Ask any European who was around at the time (if there are any left now) could a war obtain peace for any nation? I am sure they would say No. Only when the last bullet killed the last soldier, can war attain peace, the peace of the dead. And what man living really knows that peace other than standing above some huge massacre and hearing it with our own ears.
Can we achieve peace through war? No, only more fighting, only more aggrieved people, only more revenge, only more avenging, only more anger, only more death.
It is time. Time for man, as a kind, to realise what is being offered up to them. What is the solemn prize for the winner? Death, death at the hands of enemies, death at his own hand. Who wants death?
In the days of our fathers the world has trod the path of division, the people of the world have looked as far as vision would allow in the fear of their own imaginations.
Have any looked to the end of the vision, to the reality of life, to the end of death and despair?
In this current world, none of us matter, unless we stick together, where we all matter?
