This is my first short story, tell me what you guys think please Tstevens1991@hotmail.com
Kaydrin crept outside his room, and looking carefully to each side, he slowly started moving down the stone hallway towards the nearest stairwell leading to the basement of the keep. He knew he had to be extremely careful if he wanted this escape plan to work, seen as how all of his other ones ended in him getting caught by his brother's men before he even escaped the castle. Being nineteen, and only a year from taking control of the kingdom back from his brother, he didn't want to be "accidentally" killed as an intruder. Reaching the bottom of the stairwell, he walked to the back, and opened the secret door his father had shown him was there the day before he died. Walking inside, he closed the door behind him to make sure one of the guards didn't stumble upon him. Turning around, his eyes swept the room, resting on the large chest resting against the back wall. Murmuring a prayer under his breath, he walked up and rested his hands on the front of it. Gasping for breath, he jerked back as he felt a huge magical surge flow throughout the chest and run up his arms. Shielding his eyes, he looked away from the chest as a bright flash of light lit up the room for a brief moment. As it faded, Kaydrin looked back at the chest to see that the top had disappeared, revealing the treasures resting inside.
