A religious poem about Christ's death upon the cross! |
SUFFERING, SUFFERING! This cross on which I hang, Hangs like a heavy weight on ME. As heavy as that of all humanity. I know it is almost over, but still I am suffering. Here upon a hill where they Who do this to me Will finish what they must. For it is written thus. Here, where what men see Heaven sees much differently, As a Celestial and ancient story Framed in eternal glory, Is, at last unfolding. For it is told, one shall bear the Weight and pay the debt for many. I am HE, and have come for this alone. FATHER; SPIRIT; SON; THREE in ONE. And of the THREE, This task must fall to ME. For, this ONE must give all That all may receive forgiveness, If they are willing to accept it. It is not for the MAKER, not this task. And the SPIRIT must hold All things together till I come back. Meekness; weakness; for but a little longer. Till up on this Hill Golgotha, I can finish this And pay the price to see a debt fulfilled, That demands my life. Then shall I return to throne; Crown; and Heavenly renown. For if I will not pay, then this debt Will fall on everyone. Such is the price of sin, and the Depth of the FATHER’s love for men. Thus, the THREE go on. The MAKER watching; The SPIRIT strengthening; ME enduring, till this is done. With all THREE, suffering, suffering! |
