With an excited 'World Series time!', I thumbed the remote.  Just as the screen bloomed to life, the speaker buzzed, the picture disappeared and, a moment later, the building began to shudder.  Earthquake!

Grabbing my Salinas Volunteer Fireman gear, I raced out, thinking, 'At least I can listen on the radio'.  I had no clue.
