This is part of a story I'm currently writing. Its a murder.
Sprucevale Lane was said to be the most beautiful street in the whole town of Thornton. It was on this road where Kathy Flinch, a local bank teller, had been found. She had been shot; three bullets in the head and one in the back. By the time Tammy Matthews arrived at the scene, the place was swarming with police officers. “Thanks for coming Detective Matthews. We could use a hand around here,” said Chief Hammond. “This is what we think happened: Miss Flinch was walking home down Sprucevale Lane just like always when she was shot by two different men; you see that the bullet holes come from two separate angles. What we don’t know is why they shot her and how they could have without alerting the others walking at the same time. Could you try to help us out?”
“Of course Chief Hammond! I would love to help! Do you know where she was coming from when she was shot?”
“Hold on a minute, Detective,” He said to her. “Officer Queen, come here!” He shouted to a young lady in deep conversation with another officer. “I have to go, but I will leave you with Officer Queen. She has been working with murder for, goodness, has it really been seven years? Anyway, she can fill you in. I’ll see you later.” Chief Hammond walked away as a tall, African-American woman with brilliant blue eyes walked up.
“Hi, I am Detective Tammy Matthews. Pleased to meet you”
“Hi, I am Officer Alyssa Queen. Pleased to meet you too.”
“Ok, so, Officer Queen, do you know where Kathy was coming from when she was shot?”
“We’re working on it. We think she was coming from work; she had her brief case with her and she was dressed in a business suit.”
“Ok. I want to ask her coworkers some questions. If she really was coming from work, she might have told somebody where she was going. If not, maybe a close friend can tell us what was going on.”
“Great. I’ll check for any criminal record for a Miss Kathryn Jessica Flinch. Meet me back at the station when you get finished. Just ask Michelle for my office.”
