Who do you call when it’s raining cats and dogs?
Prompt: The sky is falling! No, not really, but write a short story or poem about something coming out of the sky that's not rain or snow (or anything for normal weather). Don't forget your word/line counts.
Word Count: 285

Sarah looked out the living room window. The rain was still falling, the wet drops gently splashing into the puddles collecting in the street. Taking a deep breath, she went into the kitchen and poured herself a cup of coffee.

I suppose, she thought as she went back into the living room, it’s going to rain all day none stop.

She put her cup on the coffee table and then reached for the remote, which normally lay next to the lamp on the table beside the couch. “Dam,” she growled realizing the remote was nowhere in sight, “I wonder where Lance left it this time.”

Thump! The noise came from outside the house. Going to the window, she looked out. A black and white cat sat on the roof of her car calmly washing its fur as the rain continued to fall.

Thump! A white miniature poodle landed on the hood of the car. The poodle sat up and looked around. The cat hissed at the dog and then the dog barked at the cat. The cat jumped down, just as a multicolored cat landed in the driveway. Sarah stared as cats and dogs feel from the sky, landing unhurt in the street and yard in front of her home.

“What’s so interesting out side this morning,” said Lance as he walked into the living room.

“It’s raining cats and dog, Honey,” she motioned him to join her at the window. “Perhaps we’d better call into work today because I don’t think it’s safe to drive.”

“Maybe we should call animal control, as well.”

“I don’t think they can do anything about an unusual weather phenomenon, Lance. Call the weather bureau or better yet NASA.”
