The rule for this contest is that you have 15 minutes to write a story or poem. The prompt was a picture two men standing back to back preparing to duel.
The Duel
I say there Blue
I disagree
A smaller government
Is the key
But Red, our health
Is what’s at stake
I do believe
Your protests fake
No, I am right
It’s you that’s wrong
It’s blah, blah spend
That same old song
Being angry
Won’t help nary a bit
Not while I’m smart
And you idiot
Call me bad names
If that’s your game
I too know how
To play without shame
Look whose talking
With racist slant
You have no case
You’re the party of “Can’t”
Oh now you’ve gone
A bit too far
Time to push back
To behead a Czar
Are you out
Of your freaking mind?
Forget about facts,
You’ve crossed the line
Let’s fight then now
Just you and me
Forget the rest
Of the country
Our egos clash
The news eggs us on
We lose ourselves
All logic is gone
The republic watches
As its glory days ebb
We both lost the duel
Our liberty bled
Our blood’s on the grass
Borne of argumentative lust
Ashes to ashes
Dust to dust
