An odd poem... very choppy and stilted.
I'll take one step, They'll take two.
I'm reading a mystery, but They hold the final clue.
They wave it in front of me, flaunting their power.
The taste in my mouth turns abruptly sour.

I take one step, They take two.
I feed the lions, but They control the zoo.
They cut my salary to minimum wage,
And then demoted me to cleaning up the cage.

I've taken one step, They've taken two.
I kept a secret that They already knew.
The beauty who told me said it was only me she could trust,
... But I guess that was before our bond started to rust.

One step, two step, three step, four,
I'm screaming so hard I can't take it anymore.
