Nightmares

Screaming stripes and lucid smiles
deftly walking down the aisles
Trees surround and colors loom
lullabies of placid doom.

Mortal fear will take me there
Back to nights of heavy air.
Thick with smoke and sounds of screams
pain best saved for sleeping dreams

Don't forget the friends that died.
Couldn't, even if I tried.
Some I lost again tonight,
deep within my dreams of fright.
