A finch in the distance

While I look up from here
brushed by long grass on my back

I watch the darkened clouds roll by
and stretch my ear
listen to a distant finch

I find myself wandering down
darkened corners of my mind
and as I lie a feeling of dread
sends rivers of anxiety
shooting down my spine

Soon I know I must go back
to the worlds old daily grind
I've lived a short sweet fantasy
in this short fit of time
