Originally Slam poetry You can still get a feel on the voice without it being read to you
Why I ask WHY
Do so many tend to not see the true meaning of what we call the beat
I can spit rhythms on the street that you may call a beat
But when you beat what we hold to be pure
Making those untainted unadulterated endure
I am left asking why
Gandhi said an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind
But maybe we are already blind
You have taken my eyes
When you spoon fed me up on lies
Blind is what we are when we simply close our mind
Blocking out all humanity and our sense of worth
We are told we are worth simply what we can put forth
Out there into the unknown
So we put out there a society that doesn’t care
Why should I care?
It does not affect me so therefore I do not dare to tread on those grounds
Your grounds or my forefather’s grounds I can only see me and my rounds
The rounds I put in to make our world grow but polluting all the things that I know
I think I know
Whoah… maybe I don’t know
So I can only say here I go
Again and again I am tossed to and fro
All I am asking is why?
When you question they say only it can be explained with time
Do I have the time before I die to find the answer to why?
You must trust boy and you will see
How can I believe what I can not see for do you remember what has been taken from me?
You have already left me blind!
So once more I go
Here and there an Oedipus doomed to walk alone
Doomed by the sins of our fathers never atoned
Turning from the sky to the ground we can shout why
I keep moving forward
Forward onto an unseen trail
Lord don’t let me fail
I can not fail
I still need for find my answer
This question spreads through my thoughts like a brain cancer
Lord why do you still not answer?
I guess I will never have my answer
So to this world I say good bye
bye to the ones who still make an effort to try
and those who didn't and died
I can only join them now knowing their side
