I was given a first line, I just ran with it.
They wake simultaneously in a hotel room on the thirty-seventh floor, neither of them sure of  the time, both still a little drunk, a little numb from the silence that had grown between them. Long-time friends, Kathryn Mary Fredrick and Fred Madison Kenneth, turned to lovers over just a couple of drinks. Realizing that the man next to her was not her husband and was in fact his best friend, Kathryn dashes into that room hotels consider a suitable restroom, where there is only a toilet and tub. With half her back on the wall and the other half on the door Kathryn begins sobbing as she sinks into the tiny corner of the toilet and tub room. She starts crying those big alligator tears of frustration, shame, and realization. Giving into the pain in her chest Kathryn sobs until her eyes are all puffy and pink. Getting a hold of herself she begins the search for her belongings, which included her skirt, shirt, under-garments, and glasses.  After dressing she emerges from the tiny toilet-tub room to fix her wild gray hair in the bathroom mirror. As Kathryn is arranging her hair neatly into a bun she catches a glimpse of Fred and her heart begins to ace once more with the weight of what she has done.
As Fred is lying in the hard, uncomfortable, and strange hotel bed, he begins to wonder how many men per day wake up in this very hotel with their best friend’s wife.
