A Child's Prayer

Lord if you can hear the words I say
Amongst all the people who bend down and pray
Make my mom let daddy stay
And make our problems be okay.

Lord if you can hear me pray
Make tomorrow a better day,
When I wake make my mamma say
That you lord are the righteous way.

Lord if you can feel the way I feel
Then you know I’m feeling low
My mama just told my daddy
That she don’t care no “mo.”

Lord if you can change anything
Change my mom and dad
Because the way they argue Lord
Is making me so sad.

Lord if you can understand
Sometimes I feel it’s me
If I died and went away
They both could be set free
But being in your word I know
That this is not the way to go
If I ask I will receive
So lord don’t let my Daddy leave.

Lord if you can change my life
Make my Dad a husband, my mom a wife
Cause I don’t think that I could stand
To lose my mom and dad again.

Lord if you hear children too
Then hear this prayer I say to you
Don’t let this family fall apart
Cause if it does it’ll break my heart…Amen
