Blog-Rolling as the Mood Strikes
Welcome to  RANDOM ACCESS:  Blog-Rolling as the Mood Strikes

Time was I couldn't be happy unless I was the entire chain and chain wielder.
Now, I am incredibly honored to serve as one magnificent link.

I have been linked to WDC and have since linked others.

This has not been random.
Coincidence serves the Grand Scheme.

By focusing less on the macro
and more on the micro,
I have come to believe
the Deity's in the details.

Is it weird that I rinse out my empty water bottles?
Caught myself doing it the other day and wondered what the hell I was thinking.

Perhaps I'll just relegate this behavior to the same category as watching reruns of the Today Show . . .

What's the point?

QUESTION:

What should you never tell a 92-year-old man about
until the printed invitation is in his hand - for clarity and reference?

We did some damage control, so now Dad is once again clueless about his pending surprise party.
Whew! That was a close one, Uncle Len!

LSMFT

Old enough to remember that marketing campaign as announced by Don Wilson on The Jack Benny Show? (There were only 3 TV stations back then.)

If so, you must now admit that ATC (the American Tobacco Company) was the inarguable originator of texting acronyms. Oh, yes!

Admittedly, my nights spent dancing are out of control
to the detriment of other life functions.

My goal this weekend is to clear a path
from the front door to my bedroom closet.

In the process, I hope to relocate my dogs
who seem to have disappeared beneath the clutter.
Either that or I really do have a living bra.

Just saw one scoot past the TV.

QUESTION:

What did I have for dinner tonight
that I could never have eaten for dinner
while I was married?

Actually, this was a Chris Columbus moment for me:

I discovered that croutons are the lazy person's garlic bread!
And as an added bonus, they're already cut up into bite size pieces.

Now tell me that isn't great.
Especially with some chilled cream soda.

Ahhhhh . . .

Remember my traffic light philosophy posted 3 days ago?

Well . . .
Guess who got a speeding ticket on her way to work this morning?

Yep.

Seems I get one every 30 years or so.
This time for going 60 mph in a 40 zone.
My bad for sure.
But the nice officer reduced my speed indicated on the ticket from 60 to 49, so I save $100 - - what a deal!

Hey - as long as we're talking about coffers, not coffins, I can can handle this easy.

The biggest change in my behavior is that I am now displaying amazing deference to taxicabs, pizza delivery cars, and any vehicle carrying a luggage rack on top. I even slowed down for an exterminator's VW Beetle sporting a big cockroach on its roof. Probably never get anywhere on time time ever again.

OH well . . . Next stop - traffic class (or whatever it's called).
Sure don't want any points and higher insurance premiums, so off to class I go.

Dang!

I was mentally focused on the line dance steps to "My Veronica" instead of being focused on the road . . .
and the GREAT BIG COP CAR . . . RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!!!!!!!! (no exaggeration I'm afraid)

Don't I feel foolish . . .

oh yeah.

Ashamed and amazed:

I have not watched any TV or even listened to a radio news report since February 20, and yet . . . the world continues to function without my constant attention to it.

Embarrassed to admit my complete disinterest in favor of music and dancing these days, I am tickled to watch the rest of you pushing the earth around its axis and prodding it on its way around the sun.

Do you really think you are participating in the process just by focusing on it so intently?

What you really seek is some iota of control over the uncontrollable.

I understand that.

By having some effect on our environment, we maintain our sanity.

Right now, I choose to remain one crazy dancin' fool having the time of my life. Thank all of you for paying attention to the important stuff.

Let me know how it ends, okay?

Now that I am no longer on Facebook, I am filling my hours with much more productive and fun activities.

Tonight, I found on YouTube several videos of line dances I am dying to perform with the advanced class on Wednesday and Saturday nights at 2 different clubs.

Three hours of non-stop dancing flew by as fast as time flies on Facebook. But the advantages of dancing far outweigh the fun on Facebook.

Aside from the great exercise and calorie burning, I had a blast learning and practicing the steps, then dancing along with the videos of dance crews at play.

I kept getting better and better, so it became more and more fun. And the anticipation of performing with others in the coming days was completely exhilarating.

That's when I remembered that learning is simply a matter of deepening the "rut" between brain synapses. The more an action is repeated, the deeper and stronger the "rut' becomes which simply means that learning is taking place.

The stronger and deeper the rut, the more this new knowledge becomes an automatic part of us. And I need the dance steps to be as automatic as possible since there are so many dances to learn.

So that is why practicing is the real key to learning. To deepen that rut of new information.

At my age, learning does not happen rapidly. However, I can perform with the best as long as I make these new dance steps my own by repeating them ad nauseum.

With my OCD, it's a natural!

Practice practice practice (OCD OCD OCD).

That is why between 9PM and midnight tonight I learned both "Baja" and "Hideaway Cha" to relative perfection.

I am soooo excited! Can't wait to dance with the advanced class Saturday night and again next Wednesday.

YippeeKayo!

I recently started line dance lessons. Sometimes a blast; sometimes a bore. Depends on the tune and the steps - somewhere between lame and awesome.

That's the problem with being a "beginner" - ya have to work through the boring stuff before the cool stuff is attainable.

There is nothing sweeter than the sound of synchronized boot heels stompin' on a wood dance floor. In unison.
Unless it's the hoots and hollers at certain key points throughout the performance. And watching the ballgame hovering over us on a giant TV screen.

As for my current range of apparel, it is passable, but not ideal.

My too-large pumps need to be replaced by a comfortable western boot (oxymoron?) and I might even buy a western belt with a big frickin' buckle. If so, I will be the first and only Jew to dress in this manner.

My other option is to wear short shorts, a too-small tank top and hot kickin' boots. That seemed to be all the rage tonight. But my acquaintance Margaret and her friend Julia just wore normal street clothes with "jazz sneakers" that can be bought at a dance apparel store. I will certainly consider that option in footwear.

Regarding my overall outfit (no, I am not wearing overalls), you can help me out here by picturing Ray Barone's mother on "Everybody Loves Raymond". What would she look best wearing for line dance class? Well I would need to wear whatever would look best on Marie Barone.

My first dance class did not end well, since I began drinking after we learned our first few steps. That meant that dance numbers 2 and 3 were pretty much a complete loss for me.

One problem with my execution of these western dance steps is that I dance with too much soul.

The gals on the dance floor are, for the most part, completely expressionless. And their dancing style is, shall we say, very "white bread" - which I find rather depressing.

I need to find an African-American country line dance class. That would be the ideal combination for me.

Right now, I am going back to check out YouTube for videos of the dances I failed at this evening. Perhaps that will help me for my next class.

I am fairly certain I have not been banned from any of these country joints so far. They have only gone so far as to ask me NOT to invite my friends.

I don't think I should take offense at that - should I?

Healthy folks add Facebook as spicy seasoning to their lives.

Those of us not-so-healthy minded make it our entree, side dish and dessert.

I begin my fast today.
