Stargazing

“What are they?” My hand swept across the night sky, encompassing thousands of those beckoning lights.

“They’re called stars,” my father replied. “At least, most are. Some are planets. Look, there’s Mars.”

“Mars,” I repeated. “What about that one?”

My father followed my finger to the bright blue dot. He smiled. “They call that Earth.”
