This is a poem about the conflicting nature of the human mind.
Nature/Torture:

Sun beat down and burn my frozen skin.

Ants of the forest devour me till I am wafer thin.

Leave my empty carcass to rot in mud

And stain the soil with my blood.

Sun shine down and warm my winter skin/

Ants of the forest follow me to the glades within.

Surround my bright soul with a crystal lake

And with the birds a symphony make.

Isn’t that what you would prefer me to say?

I clasp the floating fairy dust with both hands

And crush any remnants of mystical awe.

I dip my fingers through the calming sands

Then throw handfuls bitterly at the shore.

I should embrace the shaded boughs

And enjoy the delights which nature allows.

Instead I quiver from Earth’s bosom

To lock my heart in a deep, dark chasm.
