dawn comes to earth; and dispels darkness. |
The first light Dawn stirs in the leaves on the trees Separating them in ones and twos The vague light slowly spreads On the dark vale, the granite ranges. It sets the rhythm for the buds in bunches To open delicately wrought petals For the pale rays to brighten, change into fays The tall grasses, the fields, sway to eastern skies. Birds call to one another, taking wing From their nightlong nests, to distant places Searching for food and water for their young. The sheep amble along the familiar hillsides, Mountainous rocky path to the pastures Stretching on the tops of the brushy hills. Someone’s soft song in a temple distant Floats on the airy waves; a tune simple, Turning the listener to wonder at the art Of the Creator, the Supreme Artist. His masterly strokes on cosmic canvas Inspire the spiritual and clear the indolence. The world is fluid between sleep and awakening The baby, wide eyed, cherubic, for its mom, looking. The east whitens, with the sun still unseen Stars linger faintly flickering closing in, Night disappears with the misty fog Morning wakens pure, dispels the dark. The Sun rises in golden radiance Riding his seven steed in effulgence Filling the entire earth and skies With white bright glistening rays Blessing the beings and benefits The universe with health and happiness. |
