I trudged through the grass, walking near the great shore,
Spiked purple thistle, springing through the sand floor.
It felt like forever, till I happened upon,
This gift I had found, on the path I stayed on.
No person around me, I sat under a tree,
And took off my jacket, let the wind tickle me.
Here it was graceful, as the birds flew on by,
The clouds soft above me, adrift in the sky
No words could explain, what I felt on that day,
When I stepped in this world, where the trees were a sway.
Gone from the crowds, and the noise and the fear,
I let myself stop, and I felt the world near.
The blessing of life, we so often ignore,
It is here for us always, until we’re no more.
Then in a blink, our life slips away,
To be present and alive, is the gift of each day.
