Stepping on pieces of glass
after glass, after glass
Again and Again.

Who knew a broom would be
so hard to handle,
Just push in the dust pan,
All the wise ones say.

But here I crack and bleed
Again
Longing for something more
than just a failed attempt
at a life.

A failed attempt to rise above
and forget.

A failed attempt to restore a home
and a family.

Just pieces of glass
cutting,
